I kid, I kid, my box didn’t intend for my injuries this week, right?? But in all seriousness, I did some intense workouts this week and the one on Monday had me doing 100 burpees plus doing 3 overhead presses every minute on the minute. That’s a lot of overhead presses once you hit minute 10 my friends. And it took me 18:55 to complete, so let that sink in. I almost threw up–party in my stomach! To add insult to injury a rock got in my pants and partied on my knee as I did burpees and since it hurts my hips to hop my feet to my hands, I have to kneel a lot. So my knees got cut up by this rock and it hurt a lot. The funny thing is that I didn’t feel the rock while it was doing it’s damage, since other parts of my body were talking much louder than my knee. It made it so that I had trouble for the remainder of the week getting up and down off the floor. Good times.
On Wednesday I did a Hero WOD “343” in honour of the 343 firemen who lost their lives on 9/11/01. We did 343 movements in the workout, hence the name. It felt amazing to do a workout in honour of the fallen for this day. I still remember the moment I heard about the planes going into the towers. Even though I lived in Canada at the time, I lit candles all week and cried at the footage more than once. To be able to do something, in my own way, in memory was beyond words. Even if I got deadlift back from it, it was worth it.
I struggled this week with my eating. At work they replenished the chocolate in public areas and I might have gone trick-or-treating early. Darn it!! I also ate out more than intended. It left me feeling disappointed in myself, so I woke up this morning and told myself, in my big-girl voice, that I was planning out my meals for the rest of the week. Thus commenced a morning of looking at my Nom Nom Paleo app and finding 2 recipes I wanted to try:
– Prosciutto Wrapped Frittata
– Garlic Mashed Cauliflower Faux-tatoes
If these recipes workout, look for them in a blog post in the near future–you know I took more pictures than a new parent takes of their baby!! So my week is going to have a nice, protein laden breakfast, lunches and dinners with protein and two sides of yummy veggies. Snacks will be veggies-only and some pumpkin custard. I am supplied and ready to go! Now we won’t discuss how many hours of prep happened today, but it was enough for me to do 3 rounds of dishes and keep me at it for a few hours. But the frittata smelled and looked delightful and I can confirm the mashed faux-tatoes are a #win.
Looking forward to a week where I am not so much of an eating mess!
