Today I had my regular Wednesday WOD. I was feeling pretty good, it was my day off, had a massage in the morning, an afternoon nap. I was rested and ready! Apparently my mind took a bit of a vacation from the workout and I dislike that it frustrates me, because I am only human, but I feel like I could have gotten more rounds done in my workout. The workout was:
8 Minute workout, As Many Reps As Possible (AMRAP)
8 kettlebell deadlifts
8 kettlebell swings
8 goblet squats w the kettlebell
I chose a 26LB kettlebell, since I have just recently leveled up to it. Before the workout we did some practice on toes to knees (well in my case knees as high as I can get them up). So a good chunk of the workout was using my hips and butt and thighs. At about round 4 my lower back start to spasm painfully and I stopped more than I wanted to. I didn’t get as far as I wanted and I am kind of frustrated by it. I got 5 rounds plus 8. I wanted to get to 7 rounds.
After talking with Sarah, who knows about my knee issue and my tense hips, she said that I need to stretch more before working out and that I will hurt less during the workout. The rest is all mental, and getting through it. So that is my goal for now. To stretch better and to work through the pain and not stop.
On a happy note I finally beat down that 400 meter run!! Didn’t stop!! (Ok I did for about ten steps) And this was at the end of the workout, when I was sore and beat!! That was a huge accomplishment. I am so happy about it!!!
